Share a design
Every team design in Envelope has a visibility setting that controls who can see and access it. You can change it at any time from the workspace.
Visibility levels

The default for new designs is Private.
Changing visibility
Open a design in the workspace. The visibility control is in the status strip at the top of the spec panel — click it to cycle between Private, Team, and Public.
You can also ask the assistant directly:
- "Make this public"
- "Share this with my team"
- "Make it private again"
The change takes effect immediately.
Sharing the link
Once a design is set to Team or Public, the link is just the workspace URL for that room — share it directly from your browser address bar.
Team — recipients need to be members of your Envelope organisation to access it. See Collaborate on a design for how to add people to your org.
Public — anyone with the link can view the design spec. No sign-in required to read it, but running or modifying it still requires an account.
Public designs and the registry
Designs set to Public are listed in the Envelope template registry — they become discoverable by other users who can install and run your team.
If you want the design to be accessible via link but not listed publicly, keep it on Team and share the direct link.
Revoking access
Change visibility back to Private at any time. Existing links stop working immediately — anyone who bookmarked the URL will see an access error.
Frequently asked questions
Does the public link expire? No — the link stays active as long as the design is set to Public. Changing visibility back to Private or Team immediately invalidates it, so no one with the old link can access the design.
Can someone copy my AI agent design if I make it public? Anyone with the link can view and fork a Public design into their own workspace. If you're not ready for that, use Team visibility — it's visible to your org but doesn't appear in the public registry and can't be forked externally.
Is there a way to share with one specific person without making the design fully public? Invite them to your org — they'll have access to all Team-visibility designs. For a one-off external review without org access, use a Public link and move the design back to Private once they've reviewed it.
